My Fig Tree

So as I patiently wait for the snow to go away I have a fig tree inside my house that I need to care for as my inside garden.  It has 4 tiny figs coming on it and I haven't even had this tree 1 year yet.  I had had 1 fig on it previous, when I first brought it into the house for the winter.  My good friend mentioned I shouldn't touch it, so for weeks, I didn't.  The fig didn't do much.  I don't even know if it's supposed to turn purple.  Well I caved and touched it a couple weeks ago to see if it was soft.  A few days later the fig dropped.  I cut it open to taste it and it definately wasn't ready to eat.  Maybe it was a tester fig my tree was trying out because now a few weeks later I have 4 figs growing.  Hopefully this time they will grow to be delicious morsels...mmmm figs. 

Winter

Well, the last few days have been getting me excited for spring, and it's not from the weather.  I've noticed that the grocery stores and the home depots and canadian tires of the world are starting to pull out all their gardening supplies and are putting them out for sale.  This is very promising.  I don't mind winter but I won't miss it either and I think this year I will be ready, organized and prepared for my square foot garden.  I am going to order my seeds soon ... spring will be here soon!!!  For now I shall just enjoy the birds that visit my backyard...

First Post

So, I have decided to head to the dark side to talk about my gardening adventures. Specifically my square foot garden adventure. I'm going to try to upload pics, comments, plans and ideas over this coming year. Maybe I will even get some tasty bits out of my successes...we shall see...
